Pernera is an area located between the famous tourist resort Protaras and Kapparis. It is often used in conjunction with neighboring Protaras, especially since there is no clear distinction between where one ends and the other begins.
The two resorts are connected by a year-round coastal path that is popular for hikers, runners, and those looking to take a walk and enjoy the sea views. The path is illuminated at night, wheelchair and stroller accessible. You can walk from two areas of Fig Tree Bay in Protaras to Polyxenia Beach in less than 20 minutes – longer if you stop at one of the restaurants or seating areas along the way!
Pernera has a rocky coastline with several coves along the coast towards Protaras. The first is Ellines Beach, a small cove. Next you will come to Pernera Beach (the beach trail to Protaras starts from this beach). In the center of Pernera you will find Potami Beach, in front of the Blue Spice restaurant. From here you can follow the beach path to the larger Protaras Beach, passing many small rock pools on the way.
While quieter than neighbouring Protaras, Pernera still has plenty of bars to choose from and caters for all interests and ages. If you’re looking for a quiet drink or music, maybe karaoke, you’ll find it at Pernera. There are several good restaurants to choose from to suit all tastes and budgets.
